Personality of the person attempting to do the trusting (ie: the employee, not the authority figure) Trust propensity: a general expectation that the words, promises, and statements of individuals can be relied upon. Most obvious in interactions with strangers. A product of genetics and life experiences. Trust based on the cognitions we have developed about an authority. Our thoughts about whether someone is trustworthy or not. We gauge an authority"s trustworthiness based on: Ability: skills, competencies, expertise of an authority.
