History of relationship between aboriginal and settlers. Aboriginals used to be the majority living in canada until 1700. At least 80 tribal groupings with different cultures and languages. Lands were said to have been discovered by cartier and european settlers but that is a myth often. Missionaries & traders found thriving trade areas here and most of them partnered with. Some fur trade routes connected indigenous peoples with themselves & with the french dating back to 1600s. The aboriginals ways of resolving disputes was seen as sophisticated like benjamin. It is difficult to conclude that aboriginals were inferior to those of europeans. Europeans treated them as independent nations & entered into treaty relationships with them. There is a unique factual history but there is also a unique legal history: Treaty of niagara 1764: the two row wampum. Protection under s. 35 constitution act, 1982.
