Document Summary
Case of right hemi-spatial neglect and transcortical sensory aphasia following left occipito-temporo- parietal glioblastoma. Asteosites: cells that create their own blood supply and typically becomes malignant. Hemi-spatial neglect: neurobehavioral syndrome defined by the inability to attend to the contralesional side of space, which isn"t due to a primary sensory or motor impairment. Occurs due to: stroke, brain injury, tumour or surgery. If damage to right side, neglect on left, etc . Looking for right hemi neglect (lots of info currently on left but not right) Allocentric: relative: ventral attention network: perception, used in early stages of visual information processing, neglect of the contralesional side of the stimulus in views (stimulus centred) Egocentric: absolute: dorsal attention network: vision for action, neglect of the contralesional side of the view of the patient (viewer centred) Ct and mri results found hypodensity and a mass (glioblastoma) in the occipitotemporal region. Solution and results: temporooccipital craniotomy and mass resection, lesion over the left temporal-parietal region.
