12 views2 pages

Document Summary

Exercising improves retention, helps with depression, and improves self control (ie. sleeping) Self control is a high, executive, order process. Delay discounting : ght the impulse in the moment, to gain something greater later. Interventions are used to examine the effects of a drug or procedure on speci c outcomes. Participants are randomized into a condition and then the results are compared between groups. Interventions allow us to determine cause and effect relationships. Cross-over trial: same participant performs both interventions and see which is more bene cial/effects the dependant variable more (ie. does both biking and weight lifting) Randomized control trial: different participants do each intervention and results of both interventions is compared (ie. 1 person just does biking, 1 person just does weight lifting) How do we control for all variables: randomize participants, keep everything constant except the variable of interest (ie. time of day, duration, frequency etc. )
