People that are high t show greater activation in areas that are involved in attention. There are many factors of cognition that decline with age we want to study the effects of exercise to see if some of these factors can be prevented, reversed, or lessened (ie. alzheimer"s) Acute exercise: a small dose of exercise (ie. 20 minutes) Long-term exercise: a large dose /long duration of exercise (ie. 6 months) Participants: undergraduate students, with some knowledge of english. The participants did 20 minutes of exercise, and then did vocabulary, comprehension and language tasks. Results: able to the language and comprehension tests more accurate and faster. Exercise can boost language learning ability past the critical period (age 10) Research says that only a small positive effect on cognition is seen following an acute bout of exercise many factors need to be considered. Moderators: external factors that contribute to the cognitive effect(s) of exercise.
