A way to live vicariously through boobie. Family link to football- uncle took him in at young age, reflects him and his relationship to football. Football gave him the opportunity to overcome racism. Doesn"t have a lot of confidence- prone to nerves, anxiety. Coach thinks mike"s one of the most dedicated players he"s ever coached. Wanted to play college football but not fast enough. Mom has mental illness- not diagnosed but has to take care of her. Also cant go to school or get a scholarship because cant leave home because of his mom. People in the town help the family out i. e. give food for his mom at restaurant. Briefly plays football as a walk-on at baylor, a university in waco, texas.
