Kinesiology 3347A/B Lecture 8: Lecture 8
Document Summary
The act or capability of moving from place to place: moving on one, two, or four limbs, crawling, walking, hopping, skipping. Early locomotion: certain motor milestones must rst be achieved. Chest and stomach on oor: low creep. Stomach slightly elevated: rock back and forth in high creep position, creeping with arms and legs working alternatively, the environment must still afford the infant certain things, a continuous path, at surface, suf cient friction and balance. Walking: walking is the rst form of upright, bipedal locomotion. Walking is de ned by: 50/50 phasing between right and left legs, period of double support (both feet on ground) followed by period of single support. Early walking: maximise stability and balance, arms are in high guard. Zombie walk: feet are out toed and spread wide apart, independent steps are taken, rate limiters are strength and balance.
