Person"s belief in correctness of self-evaluation more important than accuracy of self-evaluation: often domain-specific (social, academic, physical, etc. , two main sources of self-esteem: social interactions & emotions. Development of self-esteem: children of all ages develop self-esteem from feedback and appraisals from people in positions of authority - social interactions. In order to sustain motor development, have to try new tasks and persist children won"t do this if they receive negative feedback from coaches and will then suffer from a lack of motor development. People in positions of authority have a lot of sway over people"s decisions and emotions. Emotions: enjoyment in young adolescents is furthered by, perceptions of high ability, mastery, low parental pressure, greater parent and coach satisfaction.
