Document Summary

Different vectors being generated by heart are always changing. Right side of heart is still being depolarized (pumping blood to lungs)- left side has larger wall thickness systemic circulation. Even though vector move to left- still affect by tissues depolarized on the right side of the heart. Lead 1- will not be at a max. amplitude wave. Lead 2- parallel- will have largest amplitude of the same event. Lead 3- angle- still positive- same direction- amplitude will be smaller. Drawback: movement of electrical activity going by ajority of heart- don"t go through middle of heart- just superior or adjacent to the heart- getting a general look at the electrical activity occurring. Machine will take exact same cardiac event and switch the polarity (2 negatives going to 1 positive) now vector being generated goes right through the heart instead of general look. Gives us an even closer look machine now makes all electrodes negative- precordial electrodes on chest are all positive.
