Kinesiology 2241A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Small-C, Cn Tower, Hockey Stick
Document Summary
The internal force per unit area which results by applying an external load or force. = f / a like pressure, but internal. Cn tower- tip of tower changes directions if wind is high- swaying- needs to happen- has to deal with stresses the environment enacts on it. Bodies are good at compression, not good at torsion (acl) and shear (disc problems in back) Changing shape of the object through placing a stress on an object (ex. walking) Longitudinal strain change in dimensions of the material divided by its original size. Pull the object apart or push it together: hockey stick carbon fiber o, change shape based on tension or compression o. Pushing one side of object- non linear way: change form of object in an angular way. Strain = deformation- how much change in shape of object is occurring in order to endure stress. Every time you place a stress, it will show a deformation.
