Kinesiology 2241A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 25: Myocyte, Ligament, Modulus Guitars
Document Summary
Stiff and ductile: doesn"t want to change shape. Either stays in elastic region or it fails. Once it reaches the end, it fails. Dictates power and force productions and directions they can produce it. Cross bridge: cross section of muscle where you see mitochondria and striations of the muscle. Can break down to smaller forms of actin and myosin components. Originates as muscle tendons, to the belly, then reduces to finer and finer rope like striations. Can peel off a portion of that rope and then split this portion as well. Muscle fibres can be b/w 1o micrometers to 30 cm in length. Not linear stress strain curve for passive muscle. Can put stress on it and theres a big increase in length, but rate at which it changes length is related to stress applied. No range of plasticity- all elastic or nothing.
