Kinesiology 2241A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Biceps Femoris Muscle, Rectus Femoris Muscle, List Of Flexors Of The Human Body
Document Summary
The rectus femoris and biceps femoris, semi-membranous and semi-tendinosis are all two joint muscles. The bicep femoris is a knee extensor and hip flexor crossing over the hip and knee joint. The biceps femoris, semi-membranous and semi-tendinosis are knee flexors and hip extensors crossing over the hip and knee joint. The muscles can be affected by passive and active insufficiency not allowing full range of motion over both joints at the same time. These movements occur through the articulation with the talocrural joint. Talocrural joint articulates with the distal end of tibia with talus and distal end of the fibula on the lateral aspect of talus. The talocrural joint"s axis of rotation is slightly forward and superior medially. The position of this joint creates the slight inversion and medial rotation: by pumping in a suspended swing you can initiate the swinging motion by changing the center of mass.
