Document Summary
Fibre type will dictate your ability to perform in difference activities. If you have high percent slow twitch can be very aerobic. If have high percent slow twitch, wont be successful in sports requiring fast twitch component. Fibre type will dictate success in particular sport. Can you change fibre type through training. Can change type ii fibres (fast) and will become more oxidative. Some of the fast glycolytic fibres will increase metabolic profile for aerobic metabolic paths to become more oxidative. Now able to produce energy from those fast twitch fibres aerobically therefore not making. La (which as it accumulates leads to fatigue) Have seen fibre type changes in artificial conditions. Go from fast to slow twitch if you change the neuromuscular orientation by cross innervating the muscle fibres. Take the nerve from a fast twitch motor unit attach it to a slow twitch group of fibres, and wills changes. Fibres will adapt to that change in innervation.
