Kinesiology 2230A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 32: Ejection Fraction, Vo2 Max, Cytochrome C
Document Summary
Adaptation of different fibre types at different intensities. Cytochrome c conc. within the etc- more of this, more h ions you can process giving you more atp aerobically. As you start to increase intensity of slow twitch fibres, increase in cytochrome c. Adaptation plates at around 80% vo2 max. Type i, slow twitch, in soleus, behaves differently- reach same peak but adaptation begins to fall off. as you increase the intensity, duration of exercise will decrease. Stimulus isn"t maintained long enough in training. If just do high intensity, will lose adaptation- will have fibres with less of a contribution to the work. Type 2a fibres adjust increasingly until plateau at lactate threshold. Cyclists have higher wall thickness 10-15% greater lv thickness. Lv hypertrophy is much larger in cyclists related to contraction durations. If running, contraction is 2-3 tenths of a second- no occlusion to blood flow.
