Kinesiology 2230A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Anaerobic Glycolysis, Triglyceride, Glycerol
Document Summary
Explosive events demanding a lot of atp. Targeting specific muscles to generate power in specific amount of time. Transforming it from one form to another. Sun is where it starts: all energy we receive on earth originates at the sun. Huge difference in power needed b/w 100 and 400 metres. Marathon requires a lot of energy for a long period of time. Power you are able to generate with decrease over time. Atp-pcr system: in 1st few seconds, will give most amount of energy. Gives a lot so quickly because there are so few reactions. Anaerobic glycolysis: 11 reactions and wont produce energy as quickly. Quantify energy within human physiology when we have reactions that occur biologically, producing heat. Can quantify amount of heat in kcals or joules. Kcal: amount of energy required to raise temp of 1 kg of water 1 degrees celsius at 15 degrees celsius. Ratio b/w energy input and work performed/energy output.
