Document Summary
Golden rule of anatomy: structure without a function is a corpse; function without a structure is a ghost. (stephen wainwright) Introduction to: systemic and functional anatomy, basic cells and tissues. He was a medical doctor and his interest was cadaver dissection. One of his friends was an illustrator and he had him draw out the organs and collectively this became the first anatomy textbook called grey"s anatomy. He died on the year of his publication, he was treating his nephew of small pox and died at age 34. Cadavers are often elderly, which makes it difficult for dissection because the tissue is older and more dense, there is more adipose tissue. The cadaver is shared among multiple courses which does not give you a first time hands on use of the cadaver because it has already been altered with. There may be mistakes that have occurred with previous dissections.
