Kinesiology 2222A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Axial Skeleton, Compressive Stress, Epithelium
Document Summary
Anatomy: systemic and functional anatomy and basic cells and tissues. The body is made up of 4 tissues (epithelial, connective, muscular, nervous) Systemic anatomy: study of a particular system of the body (ie. cardiovascular system) Regional anatomy: anatomy dealing with a speci c region of the body. What is usually looked at/used in cadaver anatomy. Like having a 3d compass of the body (n, s, e, w, up, down) Always have to reference the anatomical position, regardless of the position the person is actually in at the time. Perspective of the body is based on the individual"s (ie. the individuals right side is used vs. the physicians perspective) Proximal: closer to the trunk of the body (closer to the axial skeleton) Distal: further the trunk of the body (further to axial skeleton) Used in reference to the upper and lower limbs. Frontal/coronal plane: separating the body into anterior and posterior positions. Sagittal plane: divides body into left and right sections.
