Today: defining kt, the cihr kt framework (10 stages of kt/4 elements of kt), kt examples. Learning outcomes: (1) describe knowledge translation including benefits, challenges, and the process (2) explain stages of knowledge generation [3] and action [7] (3) explain the elements [4] of kt (4) identify examples of translating research into practice. Knowledge translation: a dynamic & iterative process, synthesis, dissemination, exchange, application, goal to provide more effective practices, products and services. To improve the health of canadians and to strengthen the health care system. Why: moving scientific knowledge into practices evidence to practice, connecting knowledge generation with utilization. Little evidence based on research for physio clinical tests. 96% used interventions with absence of evidence on effectiveness (mikhail 2005) What is kt: translational research going from animal and cadaver models, knowledge translation going from knowledge to application of programs in the community. Implementation science: research utilization, communication, knowledge management.
