Research design in human movement sharon cheng 1. Effective searches rely on understanding how information is produced and circulated over time. Initial findings can be communicated to listserves, blogs, or newsgroups on the web or newspapers. May be available directly on the web but abstracts do not yet appear in databases. Note: conference preceding finding will always be in an abstract form, full research paper has not been published if it is new. If it is older you should be able to find the fully published paper. Findings are submitted for publication in a journal and formally appear 1. 5-2 years later. Rolling year, may take about 3 years. Note: there is information lag because it takes some time to be published. Original published or unpublished works that introduce new knowledge. Eg. a randomized control trial: secondary literature. Synthesis of several original studies data from previously published or unpublished studies is combined then summarized, analyzed, and a conclusion is drawn.
