Distinction between the basic attitudes of extraversion and introversion. Subjective: designates the inner and private world of the psyche: private b/c it is not directly observable by outsides. It is not always directly accessible to the conscious mind. In extraversion, psychic energy (libido) is channeled into representations of the objective external world, and invests itself in perceptions, thoughts, and feelings about objects, people and animals, and other environmental circumstances and conditions: objective attitude. In introversion, libido flows toward subjective psychic structures and processes: subjective attitude. The two attitudes are mutually exclusive and can not coexist simultaneously in consciousness, although they can and do alternate with one another. One attitude usually predominates in a given individual during their lifetime.
