This means that people who are sick will have to go to work and potentially spread diseases around, or they will clog up the health system to get doctors notes. In spite of the great depression, western countries forged ahead for better health. In 1948 the second world war was over and the differences between countries was wider than ever. It is possible that everyone can make it to the healthy and wealthy levels, but we"re not there yet. Hans rosling was an optimist talking about the gains made in global health, but there are still massive disparities and a lot to learn as to how policy might be able to make change.
