Health Sciences 3400A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Canada Health Act, Night-Watchman State, Decision-Making
Document Summary
An informal group who for some reason share a common interest and knowledge, and they want to move the knowledge forward. In canada we have 5 parties who go across the political spectrum and depending on which party is pushing an agenda forward that policy will ultimately be affected by it. These will ultimately affect policy decisions made in our country, provinces and municipalities. Input decision making output (linear model based on easton feedback group) Most canadian parties are well aligned in the center; we don"t shift too far away. Biggest difference is: the minister is elected and then chosen from the prime. Minister premier and then the deputy ministers are civil servants (there for the long haul) Provinces are responsible for health care, the federal gov helps fund it a bit (12- 20%) but the provinces ultimately are responsible for health care. As a result most of the health care policies/legislations are provincial.
