Document Summary
Lecture 22 - ovaries, uterine tubes & uterus. Gonads are present in the female and male reproductive system. Produce gametes (ovum & sperm) - primary windows to pass on genetic information. Puberty occurs later in life during sexual maturity (the functional component of being reproductively viable) Females usually start off a bit earlier. All gametes that females will ever have are formed prior to birth vs. males who are continuously producing new sperm. The amount of gametes continues to decrease. Females release one oocyte while males release millions of sperm. Males are more functional over a longer period of time in conrast to females who go through menopause which reduces fertility. Assists the gametes w/ successful reproduction through providing pathways for transitions or nourishing the offspring. The uterine tube collects the ovum from the ovaries. The uterus sits between the bladder and rectum.
