A brief review from last week: expansions in the definition of h-rqol, qol, and w-b, underpinnings of expanded definition(s) is/are both conceptual and practical. A concept that is derived from multiple pieces within a functional area and those things don"t always interact in the same way: qol is dynamic and highly individualized. We would never have the same expectation of somebody from the same age, gender, and religion would have the same qol: limitations evolving from the medical model. Not disregarding the medical model but the limitations is that it medicalizes the problem rather than personalizes (trying to context it relative to individuals: biopsychosocial model of functioning and its overlay with the icf (who, 2000) State of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease : at least secondary domain: pain and disease/treatment related symptoms, and, increasingly another: spirituality. At the core is the impact of the person on all of these areas.
