Health Sciences 2801A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Statistical Hypothesis Testing, A Priori And A Posteriori, Null Hypothesis
Document Summary
On the 1st toss there is a 50% chance of getting a head. On the 2nd toss there is a 25% chance of getting a head for a second time. On the 3rd toss there is a %12. 5 chance of getting a head for a third time. On the 5th toss there is a 3% chance of getting a head. This is defined as (cid:862)unlikely(cid:863) to happen (cid:271)y (cid:272)han(cid:272)e therefore after 5 tosses is sufficient. The probability of getting 85 in a row is very very very low. Depends upon the credibility of the theories. This question highlights the fact that science can be different, but both still valid. These group may die at different ages, but the reason why may not be the same as the reason hypothesized. This proves that null hypothesis testing may not give you the correct answer. Need to have multiple theories in your research.
