By 2020 it is expected that there will be 100 million people in the world over the age of 60 which is a 75% increase compared to just 50% for the population as a whole. Majority of older people lead active and fulfilling lives. Myth no. 1 most older people live in developed countries. Most older people, around 60% , live in developing countries. By 2020, around 700 million are believed to live in the developing world. Improvements in sanitation, housing, nutrition, and medical innovations likes antibiotics and vaccines. Substantial fall in fertility, mostly due to modern contraceptive methods. Population ageing refers to a trend by which more people are living to an older age while having fewer children.
