Document Summary

Animal welfare view is to think that it is okay to use animals as long as it is in a humane way. Animals are not self aware they do not care how we use them, etc. Modern animal movement is stuck in this paradigm. Think that we just need to do better to be more humane to animals. The primary component is that we cannot justify any animal use and that humane treatment is a fantasy. Certainly this means we shouldn"t inflict suffering for pleasure, amusement of convenience this rules out 99% of our animal use. We kill 56 billion land animals each year for food this is not a necessity. We are killing and eating them for no reason whatsoever. How can we say that the ones that suffer like humans matter more. All the animals that we routinely kill and use for research are aware and care about their lives. We should lump all sentient beings together.
