Document Summary

Class 2 note introduction to ethical theory. Today"s agenda: meta-ethics, what makes an ethical theory, meta-ethical approaches. That"s the process we all should be going through: if you meet somebody at 50 who feels exactly the same way he did about stuff at. 20, then he"s been an idiot for 30 years. : you have to have had some accumulation of experiences that changes the knowledge you have and the opinions you hold in some way. Maybe you feel stronger about it, maybe you feel totally different, it doesn"t matter. Now you"re bringing that knowledge to application in real-life situations: action = following through, about the application in the sense that you now know what to do, everybody has ethics. However, action is considered a 3rd category because the drop-off between people who know what they"re supposed to do at this point, and actually doing it, is huge.
