Health Sciences 2330A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Helicobacter Pylori, Ileum, Peptic Ulcer
Document Summary
The esophagus enters at the region called the cardia of the stomach. The superior dome of the stomach is called the fundus. And then there is the body where the small intestine leaves at the pyloric region. There is the lesser curvature, and the greater curvature. The cardiac sphincter regulates the movement of a good bolus from the esophagus to the stomach. A deficient cardiac sphincter can result in gird (heart burn). The pyloric sphincter is where chyme passes through the pyloric sphincter into the duodenum. The rugae is for the stomach to expand. The oblique is the innermost layer, this allows the sturn the food. Small intestine and large intestine make up the remainder of the gi tract. The small intestine is longer but narrower, its main function is absorption. Peptic ulcer disease: erosion of either the lining of the stomach or small intestine. Gastric in the stomach or duodenal in the small intestine.
