Vastus medialis: medial to rectus femoris (aiis) Vastus intermedius: must move rectus femoris to see vastus intermedius, names hint where they originate off the femur. Posterior thigh/hamstrings: so named because distally the tendons feel/look like string, originate off the pelvis (ischial tuberosity)
