The levels are interrelated: there is not meant to be a hierarchy. Lots of movement between different layers: interaction occurs between different levels. The levels relate to each other: you can never separate the individual from the environment, the individual interacts with the environment at every level. It"s about understanding the interactions: the layers of the ecological approach are interrelated, it"s not meant to be a hierarchy, you can never take the individual out of everything. Interpersonal and household environments layer: any health promotion trying to intervene at this level has to look at households, families, peer groups, has to be group oriented. Organizational layer (school and work in the lecture slides) The level of intervention that would happen if you were targeting any kind of organization: ex). Schools, workplaces, university: key to that layer is you"re often looking at the different kinds of rules, policies and practices that are particular to that kind of a setting.
