A service recipient belongs to the function that"s being served. They all have some sort of abstract that is coded in a clinical system that includes information on their experience. Data goes to cihi where they use it for things like mapping, case costing, and funding reform. Mapping tells us a lot about things we couldn"t know by just looking at raw data. Using a new funding system called patient centered care. Before 2012 a hospital had a base budget. Now the money is following people instead of having the hospital find out how to spend it. 30% global, 40% health allocation model follows the patient, quality based procedures. Ability to have funding to your work depends on having good data going to cihi. New last fall bundled care pay lhsc to do surgery, parkwood to do rehab, etc. Now they only pay one organization which will coordinate care across all continuums.
