In next 10 years, baby boomers will be over 65 years old. Health care system will be in it"s highest demand to serve those elder individuals. Social epidemiology discipline that looks at the social causes of disease in society: leonard siem father, trial hoped to prove that changing personal behav would eliminate heart disease. Bus driver experiment: noticed bus drivers were calling in sick every day, it was different aspects of the job that were the reasons for the absence. Back pain from seat, etc: but, realized it was the job itself causing all these problems, we were looking specifically at one disease at a time (social epidemiology) instead of looking at the elephant in the room. A bad schedule in which the drivers have no control. If low in income, going hungry, bad education, no shelter a person is going to have bad health outcome. There is a gradient at every level of income for every health level.
