He had a default approach - aging is a problem , a health concern, and he focusses on the negative things that happen to old people * And at some point i came to the realization that, for them, they had a lot of positive health indicators in terms of mental health- they were happy! . Which is funny because they are closer to death, yet we have less mental health- we are in distress more than old people who are close to death * Assumption that you"re older means you"re more unhappy - thats what he thought. Synesis: the physical decline over time as a product of aging. There is a tendency to view symptom-free physical states as pre-diseased .
