Within each bar of clusters, there is a clear social gradient organized by racial groups. As educational attainment increases, infant mortality decreases for each group. Findings: african american women, even with college degrees have higher infant mortalities than that of white women with no high school education. As educational attainment level increases, the gap becomes bigger. A social and political construct that is used to distinguish between and rank different groups of people on the basis of physical characteristics (such as skin colour) An enduring social category that captures differential access to power and resources in society. Distinct from ethnic group (generally refers to a group that shares culture) Race as a way of categorizing human difference. Race is used as a way of discriminating between people. Results in particular patterns of inequality and oppression that contribute to nonrandom distribution of poverty and things like it.
