The fear that the people around you have a secret plan to destroy you. People began to question the notion that things just were the way they were. Admit that things can be better, they don"t always have to be the same. Humans, at this time, were at the center of the universe, and not god. Before the enlightenment, people would blame things on divine retribution. After, more likely to blame things on conspiracy. Intellectually this process is very satisfying because there is an explanation very quickly very simplified. The conspiracy is always large and complex big complicated organization, and it seems to be controlling everything around us. Conspiracies can spread information around very quickly tends to scare us when things happen so quickly.
