If you had strong traditional american families you had a strong america: families in america - microcosm of the state, hleath and welfare of the family was seen as a health and welfare of the state. Family was in the fight against communism: you needed dishwashers, and stuff - which is part of capitalism. It was living in these new neighborhoods that were popping up on the outside of cities. Important because middle class subdivisions were created for young families and it bread this white middle class conservatism.
