Was angry that most people were slave owners and people questioned how they made their country great. Slave holding southern people made this republic. The questions of the future of the republic were answered: it"s about land and territory. Over half of the male white population owned property. Needed to set up laws and administration. Land was important because it gave a market to the economy.
