Partial solution, an attempt to find a solution without addressing the basic issues. Imperialism- the right of somebody to call the shots, form of domination, ruling in some fashion over someone else, one society/nation assuming the responsibility for making the rules for somebody else. People begin to talk in europe of a new imperialism. Benjamin disraeli used the term for the first time. European imperialism up to this point was limited to a few trading ports etc. Most of the world is dominated directly or indirectly by europeans. There is nowhere too remote for europeans to try to run up a flag. There had not been empires of this kind before. A world society, a world economy, etc. Imperialism is one of the most profoundly important things that happened in the 19th century. Secondary empires: german, belgian, japanese systems founded after 1884. Informal empire: us (and canadian) and russian systems.
