Academic writers shift their focus points to be current and to fit into the buzz words of the day. The old points are still very valid, but the new points reflect the march of time and ideas. So, from the old text, we note the following: The us and canada constitute one of the most urbanized regions of the world. The cities of these two countries are comparatively new; some 200 years + New york dominates the us; while los angeles dominates the west coast. There are a few giants, but the smaller cities are the base of the us urban system. Us cities = a mix of land use and structures; which yield different models.
