Current biology that wild areas are ignored in international conservation agreement, despite their ecological and cultural value. About 20% of the world land area is classed as wilderness. Which wild area means landscapes free of large-scale human disturbances such as housing, development and industry (north america, north asia, north africa, and. Australia), they are often home to indigenous people as well as endangered plants and animals. And these wildness areas are completely ignored in environmental policy. Compare with 1990s, the wildness area has been lost nearly 10%. Thus, all wilderness areas, regardless of their size, should be assessed immediately for protection measures. And specially in europe, they have lost most of their wilderness long before 1990s, but even their biodiversity is still declining. The main cause of this loss around the world unsustainable land use, particularly for agriculture. The biodiversity hotpots are regions of high biodiversity and they must also have lost most of their vegetation.
