This is a realistic narrative but echoes a classic journey narrative. The fact of regular help from other sources. There are different ways of fighting against oppression. The mother is tough, she is not particularly expressive, she is a woman of action. The daughter doesn"t rebel physically against the school, she learns and writes a book. You need both, the risk taking protagonist, and the comtemplative protagonist. On their own they are not successful, they work together. Molly is upset that the rabbit is killed with no reason. She says not to kill them because they cant cook them. The rabbit is found by the english, and they know that it must have been the girls. Gracie want to go back to the settlement, she is complaining. Molly reminds her of what they will do to her. She has to keep inspiring the other girls. They come across two men who are like them, they can trust the men.
