English 2033E Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Waking Life, Footman, Nibble
Document Summary
Eg. the stepmother promises her daughter, once you"re queen you won"t have to walk anymore (50). Sandwich your quotation in between sentences so that the context and meaning is clear. Whenever you are talking about what someone says/indicates/promises, use a comma before your quotation. Eg. the stepmother emphasizes the leisure of royal life: once. The colon indicates that what is coming next will prove or demonstrate the statement you have just made. No extra space before or after the title. Instead of letting the reader decide which words are important in a long quotation, the blended quotation does that work for the reader (it highlights the key words) It helps to maximize the evidence that you can fit in your essay. If you have two quotations from the same page that are in one sentence, one page reference at the end of that sentence will be enough.
