The tools of the master: you can"t beat the master at his own game. i. e. : black people cant use oppression against white people. A just world needs new tools not based around violence and prejudice. The irony of things fall apart being written in. English is a powerful tool, represents colonialism and power. You had no idea what anyone was thinking, narrative voice. Realism is a european trait about the novel. Beginning it typical: introduces protagonist, captures attention. Okonkwo"s obsession with personal gain is his tragic flaw. The fact that he is self-made from personal achievements shows his disconnection with his community. Narrator doesn"t undercut idea of magic , shows that narrator is familiar with these ideas and explains them. Doesn"t describe it as belief, describes it as fact and truth. We don"t sense the narrator as a person; we see it as the voice of the culture. The festival of the yam demonstrated the community prioritizing strength.
