Neoliberalism: economic way of thinking, makes people want to be more visible and easily monitored for marketing and surveillance purposes: having liberal values coupled w/ a dedication to free-market capitalism. Forms of disciplinary power: panopticon: surveillance of the many by the few, omniopticon: the surveillance of the many by the many (to see and be seen, synopticon: the surveillance of the few by the many. Power can also be lateral i. e. lateral power between duties and structures. Where there"s power there"s resistance if power is a relation between us, then there"s also the opportunity to change that relationship (it"s a relation, not just something you embody) We"ve moved to biopower: 2 poles: disciplinary pole (panpoticon, etc, normalizing power, creates norms and social controls, biopolitics pole, management of populations.
