Document Summary

Web server: a computer that delivers (serves up) webpages: connected, always available, well maintained. Client: the computer that is requesting to see/visit the webpage. Not changing the size of pixels, we"re re-sampling the image. Assume an image that is 400 x 300 pixels and you want it to be 200 x 150 pixels. To lessen size you remove pixels, making it crisper, and thus decreasing the file size. Now assume the same original image, but you want it to be 1600 x 1200 pixels. To increase the size you add pixels as fillers, making it pixelated and increasing the file size. Can represent 224 colours, or about 16 million (224 = 28 x 28 x 28 = 256 shades of red x 256 shades of green x 256 shades of blue. Requires three bytes, one for each colour (1 byte = 8 bits, hence 28) 0, 0, 250 = no red, no green, most of blue.
