Depends on where a woman lived and how they were put to work. High-class courtesan: relative freedom, kept women or the concubines of men. Some were rich enough that they could pick and choose among men: the only women in athens that could exercise control over their own money and could own property. Abuse: music girls could be abused at parties, the lower class prostitutes could be abused. Lecture: for men who were too young to marry. The average athenian upper class male who wanted to become sexually active could either visit a brothel or use the slaves: heterosexual experience. Naked girls are usually hetairai: we must also consider setting, profession, implied activity. Could also be between a man and a woman who sells good: sympotic scenes. The majority of women that were in sympotic scenes were prostitutes or slaves. They were there for the pleasure of the men attending the party.
