Bronze age: primary sources give us a first sense of culture-> eventual birth of greek culture. Not much evidence in the stone age ~ lithic eras. Only 100 years ago did we start naming eras by metal -> tools -> the tools that we used defined who we are. When we look at society - > we look at what tools are being used. At the end of the stone age (neolithic era) they developed flint tools -> farming (increased agriculture) Bronze age -> agricultural revolution -> increased agriculture. Before they were hunters/gathers -> then they became farmers (want settlements) Date for the minoans constantly change -> reason noted later. Minoans -> first to tell us something meaningful about the greeks to come. Mainlanders went to crete very early from europe (~130 000 years bc)
