For 20% of the course grade, you are to write a commentary on one of the four scientific papers that are presented below. I want the commentary to be similar in grammatical style of those published in the journals new phytologist, plant, You should highlight the significance of the paper and its contribution to the field: your understanding can really only come by readingreading reviews on the subject as well as primary literature. Look to the references that your chosen paper cites for background info. I do not expect you to critique the article. That is, to convey why this experiment was well done and that one was poor, or how the statistics were poor. That is hard to do and not the point of the commentary. Your job is to make the reader of your commentary interested and excited about reading the actual article you are talking about!
