Based on what they provide and what they conclude. When males are ready to shed pollen, there is a remarkable change in odour to indicate they are ready to shed. They are endothermic, generating heat, so are able to increase their temperature so volatility is increased. Exclusion of all insects result in lower number of ovules. Put out odours attractive to narrow group of individuals, males in particular increase their temperature, and pollinators will collect pollen and move it on. Lay eggs on plants and will attack aphids. Lay significantly more eggs in response to chemical profile released by plant which is similar to aphids. Certain compounds affect both males and females, females come for the pollen and males have a greater chance of encountering females. Flower basically suckering fly into approaching and laying eggs by implying there is food available - deceptive pollination.
